crescent1325

I never really was a Wavedancer fan. But with the release of Discovery, it let me see them in a new light, and made Brill grow on me. The child of suntop and brill will be very intresting indeed...

And if he Recognized the daughter of Sunstream and Brill? ^_^ When you think about it ...

Welll, when I found that picture back, I immediately thought about your post, Christina,
and I jumped to my scanner :

Wouldn't "the daughter of of Sunstream and Brill" resemble her :?:
( Ember project sketch by Wendy )

( and Willowspring answered :
"yea... with blond or brown hair and bluer eyes... i could see it" )

And more : she reaallly seems to float in water !
( though the original pic shows her on equilibrium on a stone )

Starmist

Oh, that picture is absolutely beautiful!! Yes, with dark blonde hair and blue eyes I can see their daughter in this picture, too. She doesn't look so much as Ember actually, Ember is more feisty than what this portrays.. Wink

Kitt

...geez, how long were we teased with this image before we were finally rewarded for our patience? Still, it WAS a lovely tease Wink

ChristinaRaibert0

*_* You know, PCoquelin, I think that's exactly the way Sunstream and Brill's daughter SHOULD look like... dark blond/light brown hair halfway between Brill and Sunstream's, blue eyes, ragged clothes like her mother's - it would make sense! And she really seems to be floating in the water... And the more I think about it the more I believe she would inherit some of the "fiery" blood in her family (Krill, Cutter, Bearclaw...) Somehow I can see her being slightly different from her parents in personality (takes after Uncle Spine, maybe?), though possibly not so much of a storm as Chitter...

And Kitt - I plainly adored that calendar plate... there are just so many emotions in their eyes, both in the picture on the right and on the left *_*

So... what did you all think of Brill after reading the three issues of Discovery? Personally I'm happy that we are starting to see more and more sides of her...

In Discovery 1 she was a down-to-earth, clever advisor to her chief (snakeskin), a gentle guide and loving mate to Sunstream, and a keen and objective observer... She's proud of her people but not so much to deny that "Behind our smiles, fear holds us on edge. It has, unfortunately, become our way" and later that the Broken One is "no more (pityful) than the rest of us".

In Discovery #2 she was rightfully overjoyed and we saw more of her cheerful, loving side... I remember when the Summer Special came out people said that she was just too much of a whiner - but she had a reason to and now we see that Spine was right when he said "Where's that smile I miss so well". She WAS a smiling girl prior to the accident!! :D And besides we also get to see some insights of her relationship with Krill. In the NWD stories I had the impression that the two sisters had grown quite apart... tribemates, allies, but not really friend... maybe Krill believed that her sister was wasting too much time after Skimback? Either way they are now settled, and have really come to understand and care for each other. Not to mention the way she coped with Skimback and Sandsparkle! She's content with being friends and asks nothing more and nothing less... why I think she wouldn't have been sad all the time through the NWD stories, had Skimback realized earlier that she just yearned for some consideration? She still misses him, granted, because they have been together all this time, but she knows that if anything he has all but written her off his life... and that's enough for her, even if he loves Sandsparkle.

In Discovery 3, she's eager to meet Sunstream and when they indeed meet, "her happiness is beyond telling". But she's also worried about her fellow tribemates and right after their joining she claims that she wishes Surge was there and could see the Palace with his eyes, could realize that he was safe and the place belonged to all elves. It's right, she might not have a chieftain's mind, but she has a very motherly heart and is as quick to get hurt as she's quick to forgive... Even later when he's calling the WaveDancers out of the Pah-lass, she begs him to come inside and take a rest - although he had formerly banished her. I bet Krill wished for nothing else but to stab through Surge's fins with her spear! Brill's strong point is her sweet heart and her compassion. Little wonder she found a kindred spirit in Sunstream... they have so many things in common.

Willowspring

Oh i think Ember and Krill would get along fine Grin

Kitt

They're both so fiery! :D

OnScream

oh man oh man, Brill is so cool.
She's absolutly beautiful and I love how she is with Sunstream! It only makes sense since they're both twins...Do yah think that they might not have only one kid but two?
After all, having twins runs in the family.......

oh man I can't wait

Kitt

I honestly think they will only have one :( I mean, I would LOVE for them to have twins, but, still, I think there will only be one Unhappy

ChristinaRaibert0

Yay another Brill fan! Welcome in the club OnScream :D

Alana

I really can't wait to see what their child will look like...do you think it will be blonde or brunette?

NightAngel

What means Limpet?

emerald

Sunstream looks soo gorgeous in that last pic. I want to photoshop my face over Brill's. Grin I didn't like the way Elfmom colored her purple though. :?

Edit:@ NightAngel- Spine calls Brill Limpet. It's a nickname.

NightAngel

Ah, thanks Emerald!

Nowth

If you've ever been to the sea, you've seen them.

Does this mean Brill is clingy? She kinda looks like she might be.

NightAngel

Yuck...what a nice nickname ;) haha

Enfin, I wanted to post this drawing of Gold Knight, I'm sure he wouldn't mind it.

It's too gorgeous:

ChristinaRaibert0

I think he called her Limpet because she still had feelings for her lovemate even after he Recognized another woman, just like limpets are hard to pry off the cliff they cling to :-D
And yay, that Gold Knight picture was awesome *_*
I'll be posting some more Brill images later, too! :-D

emerald

It's starting to seem to me that Wavedancers seem clingly in general to me. Just look at Sandsparkle. She kinda gets on my nerves.

ChristinaRaibert0

Well, if I was to call one of them clingy, it would be Skimback, not Sandsparkle ;-) In the first NWD series she made it pretty clear that she wanted her lifemate to "let her breath", which Skimback seemed incapable of doing. But in the newest stories - I dunno, they both seem to have matured. In DS#1 he's busy healing the Broken One (much to Surge's chagrin) while she's on the beach. And later in the Palace, he's hardly ever seen fussing around her. Of course the NWD stories took place in way more dramatic circumstances, too, but he seems to have loosened his grip on her since the loss of their children, and she seems to like him much better this way, whereas earlier on they still had "much to learn about each other" :D

thats my new name for her..no more Brill the Limpet! she is Brill the Opihi! lol..

and if you ever had to pry those bad boys off of rocks..you can certinly understand why Spine calls her that! lol...

J/K!!!

emerald

I just realized that if we are on the subject of clinginess, your avatar isn't helping! Hehehe... Grin But it is very pretty, and I do have a major soft spot for Brill/Sunstream. :P

ChristinaRaibert0

*dances happy dance* How happy how happy, at long last they have their own fanbase ;-D *grins*

Vojira

I'm still amazed by the Brill doll.

Startear

Thank you very much, Vojira. I'm very pleased with how she turned out. It took me around twelve hours to make her, but still, I'm very proud of that doll.

Embala

You can be proud indeed - Brill looks great! Happy

I love how Brill is pictured by Craig Taillifer in this character plate:

Characterization by Richard Pini and Katheryn Bolinger:
Twin sisters, offspring of tragedy. Krill is the hunter, savage, brine and grit, holding secret a grief she rarely reveals. Brill is the nurturer, gentle, wishing only for children of her own, hoping always for the elusive gift of Recognition.

Easter EggQuest 2014 found I'll wait for my good friend Christina :)

Embala

This tells quite a bit about Brill - thought I'd repost it here (from Ask Elfmom)

Elfmom said

Q - Well this is a question for Brill. Can't help it, I am intrigued by the many mysteries surrounding this lady (well, can't help it that she's my favorite character, either.)

In "Turning Tide" we saw clearly how much Skimback's Recognition to Sandsparkle and his neglect of everything you had meant to him hurt your feelings. In general your feelings toward him seemed to be deeper than his feelings toward you - although in "The Discovery" it was shown that the two of you managed to rise above your difficulties and still be friends without being lovers anymore. But for how long had you and Skimback been together prior to his Recognition? Not that I am asking the exact number of ages, I was just curious if yours was a relatively new relationship or if you had been together for many years. Also, it was suggested here and there that there might be a flirtation of sort between you and Spine - although not so heavily implied as between Spine and No-Ripple. Have you and Spine ever been lovemates/furmates (however the WaveDancers call 'em)?

A - Elfmom here: Boy, I wish there were a way you could actually hear the answers, even though you wouldn't understand a word of the elves' language. Brill's got one of the sweetest, most musical voices I've ever heard. There's a "trill" in her dialect, not like a bird's...more like a dolphin's, but not screechy. I could listen to her for hours.

Anyway...her thinking's about as non-linear as it gets, so I don't know how much of this will make sense to you. Here's my attempt at a translation:

Brill replies: Mist in the mind over "how long?" and "ever been?" Always... always the twirling/swirlings (note: she means joinings). Never "no" to any dance - even Broken One/Reef - but, too sad, [b:28eea02c4b]he[/b:28eea02c4b] said no. Many "yes-es" now, happy Reef! Twirling/swirlings best with two hearts big. Skimback Healer looked beyond...felt beyond...to more approaching. Now sadness/loneliness no more. Oh, my beloved! My beloved! My beloved!

Elfmom here: At that point I was treated to a series of spectacular out-of-water leaps and back-flips. SHEESH! The girl is pregnant, f'cryin' out loud! Well, she's also nuts - and I mean completely, hopelessly, over-the-moon nuts - about Sunstream, on top of Recognition. Guess she's entitled to be somewhat splashy about it. Wink

Love,

Elfmom

ChristinaRaibert

To the light of Angrif's plans to attack the WaveDancers sometime soon, I wonder if the WaveDancers, and particularly Brill and Sunstream, will be going to fight for their home or hide in the Palace? This reminds me of the caption in the Lovemates Calendar. They both proved to be willing to look danger in the face when Korafay was born - and it's not like the WaveDancers haven't struggled against humans (and won, at least by the look of it) before now. Sunstream, at least in the Special, does not seem to share Moonshade's vision of the Palace as a "shelter" from the cruel reality of the world outside its walls; when the other WaveDancers were all worked up because Brill wanted to give birth in the open sea, he said "I stand with her". Now that the elves know about Angrif's plans and have the means to reach the WaveDancers way before the Djunsmen do, do you believe the lovers will be among those who fight the expanding human invasion? (I'm positive many WaveDancers will want to fight, among them Krill, Skimback and Sandsparkle even just based on what we saw of them in the "WaveDancers" story arc. Now the elders - and perhaps Foam's family - might instead decide to seek shelter in the Palace instead.)

RedheadEmber

Another question - which may not belong in this particular thread - is will Korafay fight?
She's in her twenties, easily old enough to fight herself, at least from a Wolfrider perspektive.

Tamarien ChangeStone

OKAY, all those who remember "The Amazing Mr. Limpet" movie with Don Knotts raise your hands.

Basically the story of a man who loved the sea and all it creatures as much or more than mankind. And who became a Fish (Hollywood 1960's animation filmed over real TV for the people) which helped the USA during a time of war.

A Delightful movie to this day.

lunakat

I haven't seen that movie- but I will look for it. It sounds like it would be sweet and fun to watch.

We haven't really met Korafaye yet- but from our brief glimpses of her, she doesn't look like she's a fighter anymore than Sunstream is. Sunstream can rise to the occasion, but violence isn't in his nature. He takes after his mother. Brill also seems fairly gentle, in contrast to her sister. And Korafaye isn't being raised as a Wolfrider. So unlike Redlance or Skywise, who aren't fighters by nature but learned how anyway, Korafaye may not even have had to think about it.

RedheadEmber

You're probably right. I think Korafay would prefer not fighting, however, I think if anyone threatened her loved ones, then there'd be hell to pay.

travelbug

Even if Korafay has no wolfblood, she may have inherited a wolfrider's spirit? You know, wild and free and ready for anything :)
in some families, the children takes after the grandparents more than their parents.

lunakat

I think we will not know until we meet her.

MultiFacets

We have met her, so seeing her in action and/or speaking with others might be a better indicator.

Tynami

Can't remember if I ever posted these...

Embala

Beautiful Brill with a rich, wavy mane. Detailed work on the Brill micro - all those dots give just the right impression for ears, toes and pearl adornements, kat. The little one looks adorably cute. And your talent for the tiny sprites is incredible. *claps*.

lunakat

MultiFacets said: We have met her, so seeing her in action and/or speaking with others might be a better indicator.

Well, we met her a day-old infant- and after that, we've seen her. But he haven't really met her in the sense of hearing her speak or act or knowing anything at all about her personality. I mean, heck, for all we know, she could be a jerk, or one of those pretty little mean girls. I'm sure that's not going to be the case, but until we really do watch her behave and interact on some level- there is no way to know if she is a fighter or a pacifist, blunt or tactful, sensitive or callous or anything in between. She's definitely pretty. And green hair is a first that I've seen.

Tamarien ChangeStone

Case in point:

Mr Limpet was a very kind, gentle man who did not understand the pitfalls of mankind. He preferred the seemingly peaceful ways of the inhabitants of the sea. He fell in love with a Lady Fish and spotted enemy submarines for the Navy during WWII.

He choose to stay a fish.

Now we do not "know" Korafey's disposition but I am betting that since Suntstream raised her- that she "was not taught to Hate". I do believe (like Mender) when tried and angry she might let the wolf-blood rein (?)
