A Heartfelt Thank You

The door to Feels-ville swings both ways. We are just now returned to Los Angeles after a week-long, 2500-mile road trip. First stop was a packed signing at the Portland, Oregon Things From Another World comic shop, to celebrate the release of “Elfquest – Final Quest” #24, the concluding chapter of Cutter’s forty-year hero’s journey. Then followed Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle, Washington where hundreds of you stopped at our table in Artist Alley and attended the SRO panel presentation Saturday afternoon. For four days you let us know, with your smiles or tears, your nervousness or calm spirits, how deeply you were affected by this closing chapter. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for every expression of emotion you shared with us.

What we didn’t realize, however, until we started the long drive back was how all this would affect us personally. It struck like a thunderbolt that this weekend was a unique milestone in all the history of Elfquest. For never again will there be “that moment when…” everything wraps up, the bright line between all that has gone before and all that will come after. It was powerfully sobering, sublimely uplifting.

Certainly 2018 is just starting up and we look forward to every opportunity to meet as many of you as we can to share the festivities. And we want to give special thanks to an industrious bunch of fans who, with all the cunning of stealthy trolls and all the love of a Palace-full of elfin spirits, presented us with a very special memento. For months this cabal, let by Wouter te Witt, managed completely in secret to gather, coordinate, and construct a one-of-a-kind memory book containing over 130 pages of writings and art collected from nearly a hundred of you out there. We are touched beyond words. We cherish this gift of love and promise that, one day, it will join Wendy’s original artwork in the archives of Columbia University.

Thank you all again for an amazing full-circle ride, and we’ll see you again when and as we can. AYOOOAH!
