Love Letters to Hollywood

Elfquest.com has been on the web in one form or another since 1994, but it feels as if it’s all been completely restarted as of only two weeks ago. That still astounds me to say out loud. “Only two weeks ago.” Three million hits to the web site, over 500 new friends on the MySpace page. Something’s happening that has never happened before in the thirty-year history of Elfquest.

No, I take that back. It did happen once before.

When Elfquest got started, word of mouth – the interest shown by you, the readers – catapulted this little tale of elves, wolves, trolls and humans into an indy comics phenomenon that, at its peak, was on a sales par with many of Marvel’s and DC’s top titles.

Suddenly, it feels as if that interest is being rekindled. It’s been a while, hasn’t it. All of us, we never stopped loving the elves and what they mean to each of us, but it did get kind of quiet out there in the world of one moon. And now the rising howl is on the wind again.

We want certain people “out there” to hear that howl of happiness, of love rediscovered. These are the people who make movies, who make television series, who make new books and comics and toys and such possible. We want those people to hear you directly.

Some of you have already posted little “love letters” in the comments section of this MySpace page. Many of you haven’t yet, although you did send short notes with your friend requests. We’d like you all to post what you feel, right now, right out there for all the world – and especially those certain people – to see.

As the lady sings, “Love isn’t love ’til you give it away.” Heartfelt thanks from everyone here, whether there’s one or two moons in the night sky.
