Our thanks to Scott Blaser, who collated and created this timeline. Note that Elfquest is a sprawling web of myths and legends told on one level by the elves themselves, and on another by Wendy and Richard Pini, human storytellers, with help over the years from other writers and artists. Elfquest springs from the heart first, rather than the head. It’s meant to stimulate imagination and feelings, where the effect can be more profound and life-changing than that from a list of dry facts. As Elfquest begins its newest episode, “Final Quest,” the “facts” of this timeline may not mesh smoothly with the story as it evolves. Let the tale spin as it will. Each reader will – and should – take her or his own truth from it in the Now as it happens. The past is a dreamberry memory, and legends grow along with their storytellers.

10,000 YEARS BEFORE ELFQUEST #1
Elfquest #32 (flashback)
The early High Ones became too many for their planet. Some found other worlds to dwell on. Descendants of those returned to the birthplace. Eventually, these high ones formed groups and went to seek out those on other worlds. They brought trolls and preservers along. Timmain’s group discovered the World of Two Moons. In art and literature, humans depicted immortal creatures, evidence of High Ones. As they landed, the trolls revolted. The High Ones lost control and crashed 20,000 years in the past. The ape-like humans greeted them with brutality.
Hidden Years #6 – 7
In order to survive, Timmain took a wolf’s form and hunted for the others. In time, the High Ones made a life for themselves. Timmorn, first chief of the Wolfriders, is born to Timmain and a wolf. Here, the 10,000 years of the Ten Chiefs begins.
