Pronunciation: (rhymes with fear it ran)
As a young human boy, during a time of famine and drought, he was orphaned and became the acolyte of an elder Shaman of Gotara. The humans, wandering, found fertile land and settled near the Wolfriders’ Holt. The nameless boy, taught to believe that the elves were fearsome “wolf demons,” showed his bravery and dedication by taking up a spear during a confrontation with the Wolfrider chief, Bearclaw.
This was the seed of his deep personal hatred of the elves, an inner fire that only grew after Bearclaw killed his mentor. The enmity between these two grew so profound that it helped awaken a pool of stagnant magic in the forest that would ultimately create the monster, Madcoil.
Despite the best intentions of some of the Wolfriders, peace would never be reached between the humans and the elves; when Cutter killed his own apprentice, Tabak, Spirit-man took his vengeance and burned down the forest, sealing his own fate and that of the Wolfriders as well, setting into motion what became the “Original Quest.”
